Software Engineer, IoT Reliability

Job Overview

AirGarage is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in IoT Reliability to ensure the health and observability of their nationwide IoT device fleet. This role involves working with embedded systems and backend infrastructure, designing tools and monitoring pipelines necessary for maintaining the reliability of hundreds of devices. The engineer will have end-to-end responsibility for improving stability and scalability across various hardware setups.

Technical Requirements

Responsibilities

• • Design and implement systems to monitor, diagnose, and improve IoT device health at scale.
• • Build internal tools and scripts for device setup, fleet observability, QA automation, and ongoing monitoring.
• • Contribute to backend services that support device integration, calibration, and reliability improvements.
• • Investigate and resolve fleet-wide issues by analyzing metrics, logs, and telemetry.
• • Test and tune hardware products to ensure optimal performance.
• • Conduct periodic fleet-wide health assessments and recommend improvements.
• • Serve as the primary internal contact for hardware health, providing reports on performance and issues.
• • Collaborate with operations and hardware teams to propose architectural or process improvements.
• • Author and maintain troubleshooting guides and internal playbooks.
• • Travel occasionally for QA, deployments, and on-site debugging.
