Job Overview
AirGarage is seeking a midlevel-to-senior Hardware Support Engineer to manage the performance of its nationwide fleet of connected devices. This role entails collaboration between operations and engineering, with a focus on debugging, tuning devices, and contributing to backend software for quality assurance. The position is primarily remote but may require occasional travel for site deployments.
Technical Requirements
Required Skills
- • 5+ years of professional experience as a support engineer
- • Experience managing distributed Linux-based hardware appliances
- • Experience developing internal tools for device observability
- • Familiarity with git flow and GitHub/GitHub Actions
Preferred Skills
- • Background in cellular connectivity (4G LTE, 5G)
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- • Self-starter in fast-paced environments

Responsibilities
- • Serve as the primary internal support contact for hardware.
- • Provide regular reports on hardware performance trends and device uptime.
- • Test and tune hardware appliances during or post-installation.
- • Conduct periodic fleet-wide health assessments.
- • Minimize downtime through remote incident resolution.
- • Collaborate with Hardware Operations for improved install practices.
- • Escalate unresolved issues to engineering teams.
- • Act as a feedback loop between field and product teams.
- • Contribute to core backend software services as needed.
- • Build internal tools and scripts for hardware diagnostics.
- • Author and maintain clear repair and troubleshooting instructions.
